Policies to Link Public Health and Social Welfare


Abstract
This study suggests policies to implement public health social work in lieu of health welfare center model which is currently undergoing on a trial basis to link public health and social work.
The public health social work provides welfare services to solve economic, psychological and¢¥ social problems concerned with the health of community residents. The existing social workers should be utilized as the manpower engaged in public health social work at the present time. In the future, the policies to recognize those, who obtain over the required grades on subjects related to medical welfare and public health, as the qualified public health social workers among the graduates who major in social welfare-related subjects should be established. A public health social worker will be in charge of 1) counseling service, 2) prevention of diseases, 3) assistance program, 4) community diagnosis.
In conclusion, public health social work helps to solve various living problems concerned with diseases to promote the health of community residents.
